Austin Mind & Wellness promotes a comprehensive and thoughtful approach for mental health treatment and wellness related services. Dr. Mathews and his team believe that navigating life's challenges requires a a multi-pronged approach. Our practice acknowledges that no single "pill" or style of therapy will immediately solve complex issues that you may be enduring. Nevertheless, our providers will take the time to really understand your life story and background. We will take the time to really listen with a nonjudgmental attitude and work with you in a collaborative manner. Our practice believes in thorough initial evaluations (approximately 90 minutes) and follow-up sessions generally last 30-45 minutes.

Our providers can provide therapy with or without medications for several common mental health disorders in addition to providing counsel for issues related to complex relationships (e.g. potential divorce and family stressors ), difficulty managing anger/irritability with others, life transitions, grief, and improving one's overall sense of well-being

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) & Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Mindfulness principles

Of note, our providers will always work collaboratively with other therapists (if you already have one) and can also provide you referrals for therapists with other areas of expertise (e.g. DBT group therapy, CPT, EMDR, ERP, etc.).
